BULGARIAN >>

March 23, 2010

Dear friends,

I want to express my tremendous gratitude to everybody who responded and helped me and my kids in this very difficult moment for my family!

I would like to thank cordially to all of you who donated clothes, shoes, blankets and toys for the kids, who helped me with money and information!

The collected sum of $ 1254.65 was used for beds’ repairing and fixing the furniture. The municipality of Malden has helped my family as well. They have placed us in one of the community apartments three weeks after the fire occurred.  My huge thank you to the boys who helped me to move my luggage and belongings!

Little by little everything falls into place and life comes back to normal. The kids like the apartment but especially enjoy the abundance of new toys and clothes that they have received.

When a person finds friends ready to help in a difficult moment, the hardship is much easier to overcome!

Big thanks to all!

Dear friends,

A Bulgarian single mother from Boston needs our help!

A fast-burning fire that tore through the upper floors of a Malden apartment building on January 10th, 2010 left dozens homeless on a frigid January morning, rendering half of the 60 apartments permanently uninhabitable and forcing the other half to be vacated temporarily. Among them is a Bulgarian single mother- Meglena Fnadakova /Meggie/ with two little children: a two year old boy and an eight year old girl!

Meggie’s rented apartment is full of water and chemicals and she is not allowed to get into it because it is dangerous. It is good that Meggie was able to pick up at least the family documents during the evacuation.

After the horrible shock, she is facing the reality and trying to find a new home. The Red Cross has placed all the victims in a hotel for few days. She was lucky to have been invited by friends to stay at their house until she finds an apartment. She has been assured by the Malden municipality that they will cooperate in finding an apartment at affordable price but there are not any specific deadlines for this offer.

At this very moment Meggie needs your help and sponsorship more than anything!

Meggie is a dental assistant and works very hard to support her family, but right now this disaster has destroyed her fragile budget. She needs your support to restore the life of her children! She has to keep meeting the basic everyday needs and to save the money for a new lease including: the first and last rent ,and the security deposit. She needs the basic furniture as beds, mattresses, table, chairs, desk…etc.

After the evacuation, Meggie wasn’t allowed to go back into her apartment to pick up any clothes, so she is very grateful to all Bulgarians who donated clothes for her and her kids!

Any help will be strongly appreciated in this crucial moment!
Even a little bit means a lot!
